About the artist

Andres Madariaga’s work has always been an outlet to express his fears and emotions and to understand the world around him. He uses intuition and perception as his main tools and dissects dreams and memories through the canvas. Growing up in two cultures has always been difficult for Mr. Madariaga, never fitting in to one or the other, but with time he has learned that in the end the actual work can surpass any barrier that society or stereotypes make. He invites you to step in and find your own symbols in his work and emerse yourself in “the dream.”

 

Why this show?

In his words:

 

“I have always been interested in the beauty of the nude figure and the relationship between ourselves and the world around us. We live in a culture that reinforces false ideas of beauty, masculinity and love, often mistaking sensibility and vulnerability with weakness. With this work I aim to portray something different, something deeper and more profound by showing vulnerability at its highest form. I am also showing strength and courage and I think this duality is quite beautiful.”
