Cat Boyce

About the artist

Cat Boyce’s series, A Part, explores the human body in its most honest form and juxtaposes the nude with nature. Stripping the male of all commodities, the body becomes shapes among the landscape. Boyce photographs her subjects in a location unknown to them and chooses to work with individuals without modeling experience. In doing so she is able to capture rawness, truth and vulnerability.  Ms. Boyce is a recent graduate from the University of Connecticut’s Fine Art program. Her work has been on display at the University of Connecticut’s 2015 ‘Show Em What You Got’ show and the annual Senior BFA exhibition at Artspace in Windham, CT. She is also a member of the Bristol, CT Art Squad, and showcased her work in their first project, ‘Operation Storefront Art’ in Bristol.

Why this show?

In her words:

“I am interested in participating in this art exhibition because in my own work I explore the nude in a context far removed from the skewed and sexualized portrayal of the human body society has created. I view all humans as their own work of art. I believe all nude art should have an audience, not just objectified nudes that play up gender stereotypes. I want my photographs to start a conversation on the way nudes are portrayed and received.”
