Daniel Toby Gonzalez

About the artist

Daniel Toby Gonzalez is a cerebral artist that lets his personal beliefs around fine art photography guide his work. Fine art, he has come to believe, is meant to be a voice for him (the artist) to say things he is too afraid to say aloud, in a way that’s free of clumsy phrasing and awkward pauses. Toby has found the greatest personal release exploring themes of masculinity—both his own masculinity and the way masculinity is perceived by society—and plans to dig further into the subject, attempting to “hit the bottom, if there is one.”

Toby is a 2012 graduate of Vermont College of Fine Arts, earning a M.F.A. in Visual Arts. He also has a B.A. in Photographic Design and Criminal Justice from Moravian College, graduating from the school in 2008. He recently was a part of the “Mythologies” exhibition at Landmark College and pieces of his work are currently up at hungermtn.org.

Why this show?

In his words:

“Art is my passion, I love to experience other people’s work and hope they have a chance to experience mine.”
