About the artist

 

Ryan Kalentkowski makes paintings with an immediacy, be it figurative or non-figurative in subject matter. He engages in energetic brushstrokes, line work, the history of painting and a process of trial and error. Conceptually, these compositions tend to discuss themes of repetition, philosophy, sexuality, and psychology. The investigation of the construction of the subject and surrounding space are heavily influenced by this.

“Much of my artwork deals with the figure and portraiture. As well, it seems to be a pretty cool opportunity to contribute to the gallery and the community surrounding it.”
